PDP led Govt deliberately ignored Jammu tourist destinations
7/8/2018 11:56:36 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, July 8: The former coalition government comprising BJP-PDP deliberately ignored the tourist destinations of Jammu region. Even the funds released by the central government for development of tourist destinations of Jammu were not utilised.
After assuming power in the state in March, 2015 under the leadership of Late Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, the former Chief Minister in PDP-BJP dispensation had announced that the Suchetgarh border would be developed on the pattern of Wagha Border and regarding this the Union government had announced package for its development but after lapses of years from announcement, the funds is still unused.
Sources informed Early Times that under centrally sponsored scheme of SWADESH DARSHAN, the union government announced that a Multipurpose Hall with souvenir shops, a restaurant worth of 90 Lakhs would be constructed but after lapse of sufficient times, the state government has failed to complete it.
And official informed that the executing agency has completed 60% work but the furnishing work is going on. "Under the same project, the government had announced that restoration of Pre-independence Railway Platform in Frontier Express theme cum museum and Gallantry Gallery would also be constructed or maintained with Rs 150 Lakhs, the project still has not been taken up by the government because of the main chunk of land where Administration block of security forces is under occupation of security forces", sources said.
They further said that during the announcement government had claimed that office of security forces would be relocated on another place but the former government had no paid attention to shift them resulting, the project is lingering in midway.
Another part of same project including construction of tourist vehicles parking lot, internal pathways and landscaping and plantation with solar irrigation system, rainwater harvesting and filtration and overhead water reservoir have not been constructed so far which shows negligence on part of former coalition government especially the BJP's minister and MLAs toward tourist destinations based on Jammu, alleged sources.
