BJP demands abrogation of Article 370 | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 8: Convinced that the party has lost its appeal and sheen and that its constituency has drifted away from it, the Jammu & Kashmir BJP has, it seems, made up its mind to revert to its original agenda and make abrogation of Article 370 its major plank to win back the trust of alienated constituency. Hints to this effect were dropped by the newly appointed J&K BJP chief Ravinver Raina. He has said in clear terms that now the party's target is to remove separate constitution and separate flag of the State of Jammu & Kashmir so that one nation, one flag and one constitution of India remain enforced in entire country. "We will achieve our motive. We will integrate Jammu & Kashmir completely with India. There will not be any separate flag of the state or constitution in Jammu & Kashmir," Raina has said, adding that "our target is very clear: No separate constitution and no separate flag". There is no ambiguity whatever in what Raina said and that too in the presence of hundreds of party leaders and workers at the party's headquarters. Now that Raina has opened his party's all cards and asserted that the party will never deviate from its core ideology and core agenda, it can be assumed that the party would start implementing its own agenda by expressing a regret that it committed a serious mistake by forging an alliance with PDP, which considered Article 35A and Article 370 a matter of its faith and which fought the 2014 elections on the planks which held the state aloof from the national mainstream. It took a right step when it withdrew its support to the Mehbooba Mufti government. This saved the BJP from further harassment. |
