Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 10: With state Government removing security picket from village Ramnagri (Jamnagri) in Shopian district after the recent terrorist attack on police picket in this hamlet that killed one cop and left a member of minority community injured, the members of the minority community are feeling insecure.
According to sources the Government took the decision to remove the police picket which was guarding the two minority families in the village for last many years following killing of a cop two days back. Sources said police department took the decision as militants in large numbers with sophisticated weapons have started attacking police pickets guarding political leaders and others in the Valley and snatching their weapons.
Four or five policemen posted in these pickets have failed to take on the militants who come in large numbers and attack them. The recent trend shows that these militants have succeeded in snatching the weapons from policemen at various places in Kashmir after creating a fear psychosis. To control the further damage the Government removed police pickets guarding the minority families in the Valley.
It may be recalled that minority community at village Ramnagri ( jamnagri) district Shopian had a police post from so many years.
Puran Koul, an resident of the village is already battling bullet injuries at 92 army base hospital srinagar that he sustained during recent attack on this post.
The issue was taken with authorities by members of minority community and a memorandum was submitted to Home ministry as well as DG Police demanding restoration of security to minority families and to provide security to members of minority community putting up in parts of Kashmir.
Following this incident, terrorists attacked another police picket guarding the minority in Pulwama district as militants have made it a part of their strategy to attack the police pickets where a small number of cops are deployed to overpower them and snatch their arms.
