What to do next! Isolated Geelani seeks suggestions | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Oct 10: After 90 civilian killings and 94 days of strike, Syed Ali Shah Geelani-the mastermind of ongoing unrest has finally started seeking suggestions from Hurriyat leaders and Kashmir based trade bodies. Early Times has learnt from reliable sources that former legislator of Jammu Kashmir Assembly and now a Pakistani stooge has written detailed letters to Hurriyat led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front led by Mohd Yasin Malik and other several trade bodies. Geelani, according to in these letters hasn't not only commended them for supporting his strike calendar during last three months but has sought suggestions from them. "Syed Ali Shah Geelani in these letters has sought suggestions for stretching the ongoing unrest," a source claimed. He however claimed that a group of senior leaders in Hurriyat (M) led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq had distanced themselves from the ongoing unrest and had refused to provide any kind of suggestion and support to Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Sources said that Hurriyat members have criticized Geelani for consulting them at a time when three months have already passed and Kashmir has lost over 90 civilians in the ongoing agitation. "We know that now Geelani wants to exit from the situation but ironically he is trying to involve us too," a leader pleading anonymity said. "We had discussed the Sainik Colony issue and derived some consensus on it but we are not involved in the situation that aroused after the Killing of HM Militant Burhan Wani," he added. He said that Hurriyat members have returned Geelani's letter without any response and conveyed to APHC Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to tackle Geelani and ongoing agitation in his way. Sources said that his bosses in Pakistan too have isolated Geelani and are begging for the bilateral talks between India and Pakistan. "It seems authorities have successfully broken spine of current agitation, although they need to care but the tremendous work of security agencies is sure to make Hurriyat irrelevant for years to come," a political observer told Early Times. Kashmir is witnessing a civil uprising since July 09, 2016 when militant commander Burhan Wani was killed by forces in Bemdoora area of Anantnag district on July 08, 2016 evening. At least 90 civilians have been killed while over 15000 others have been injured in forces action. Top Hurriyat leadership remains jailed while over 7000 others, mostly youths, have been arrested by police over the past three months for pro-freedom protests. Over 450 persons have been booked under Public Safety Act (PSA). |
