Cop among three injured in scuffle over management of Magla Devi Temple | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Oct 10: Two civilian and a policeman were injured in the late evening hours on Sunday when followers of two priests clashed for taking control over of the administration of Mangla Devi Temple situated in Nowshera tehsil in Rajouri district. Members of temple management committee and locals also held a protest against Baba Paul Nath. Mangla devi temple is situated in a historical fort in Nowshera tehsil and its administration is managed by a committee duly constituted/elected by the people of the area and is headed by Mela Ram, Chairman and Ashok Kumar, president. According to local sources and reports said that for the last many years the temple is being run by a committee and one priest from Haryana namely Paul Nath was also performing the religious activities for past several years. Ashok Kumar and Mela Ram alleged that for the last about two years Paul Nath with the help of his followers wanted to take control of the temple which was objected by the managing committee members including Kali Dass, Shiv Narayan , Krishan Lal , sarpanch etc. Sources said, "Yesterday on the occasion of Durga Ashtami , a dispute took place between the followers of Paul Nath and managing committee which lead to physical scuffle in which some persons got injured. Within blames and counter blames the follower of Paul Nath said that they will approach the police while the members of the management committee alleged that Paul Nath is a noted criminal and is absconding from Haryana. "He (Paul Nath) had also attempted to grab about one kanal land of one namely Chaman Lal resident of TCP Bridge , Nowshera and had also managed physical attack by his followers on other family members" alleged Ashok Kumar. He further alleged that about 30-40 followers of Paul Nath attacked the management committee members last night in which some of them were injured. "The injured have been identified as Parveen Kumar and Surjeet Singh who were treated in the hospital, he said. According to sources that police yet have not registered any FIR in this matter.
