Unknown gunmen shot dead youth in Sopore | | | early times report Baramulla, Sept 25: Unknown gunmen shot dead a youth at remote village, Cherhar in sopore town of North Kashmir's Baramulla district on Tuesday evening. Mohammad Iqbal Khan son of Ghulam Mohammad Khan 22 of Cherher- Kawool village was fired from point blank range by unknown armed militants some yards away from his residence. According to family, Iqbal along with family were sat on verandah and in the meantime some six armed unknown militants approached family for food at around 9:30 pm on tuesday. "We offered food but they asked to pack it in polythene and asked Iqbal for company to show way towards Cherhar. After some minutes we heard some gun shots as soon I reached on the spot, I found my brother in pool of blood" said deceased's brother, Mohammad Younis. "We do not know why he was killed, he was doing domestic work (Farming)" Younis added. The deceased was rushed to sub district hospital Sopore for autopsy examination, and was handed over to family for last rites after completing legal formalities. Soon after the incident, security forces rushed to area and launched massive search operation to flush out attackers responsible for the attack. However no arrests were made. Reports said, police also started frisking at many place to nab suspected militants. Meanwhile police has registered a case and started investigation in this regard.
