SIC slaps notice on Joint Director School Education for non appearance 9/25/2013 11:56:08 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 25: The State Information Commission (SIC) has asked the Public Information Officer (PIO) of Directorate of School Education Jammu who happens to be the Joint Director in the directorate as to why penalty proceedings be not initiated against him under JK RTI Act 2009 as he failed to present himself before the hearing at the SIC's Jammu office few days back. The PIO had also provided incomplete information to an RTI application and the SIC has further directed the PIO to provide the information to the RTI applicant within ten days from the date of issuance of order . As per details available with Early Times one Mohammad Sadiq from Trikuta Nagar, Jammu moved an application dated 20- 05-2013 under J&K RTI Act, 2009 before the PIO/ Joint Director, School Education Jammu seeking some information related to issuance of some official orders and SRO's dating back to 2004 , 2005, 2006 and 2009. The record available reveal that the information seeker also filed Ist appeal dated 9-07-2013 before the First Appellate Authority (FAA) i.e the Director, School Education Jammu wherein he alleged which he that the information provided by the PIO was incomplete and not as per his RTI application. The Ist appeal was not been disposed off / adjudicated by the Director School Education Jammu and thus feeling aggrieved of official inaction on the part of the Joint Director (PIO) as well as Director (FAA) the appellant Mohammad Sadiq preferred second appeal dated 22-08-2013 before the State Information Commission (SIC) in which he requested that the PIO/FAA be directed to provide the information which has been withheld by the PIO. The Commission (SIC) vide notice No:SIC/J/A/204/2013/3626-27 dated 09-09-2013 directed the PIO to appear before the Commission with counter statement and relevant documents on 19-09-2013 (10.15 A.M) at Jammu office of the Commission for hearing of the second appeal. The PIO failed to comply with the aforesaid direction and did not attend the Commission's office. Taking a strong note of this inaction on part of Joint Director School Education Jammu who is the PIO under State RTI Act 2009 in his directorate the State Information Commissioner Dr SK Sharma issued show cause notice to the PIO returnable in 10 days for explaining his position behind non appearance.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
