`EU delegation knows what Omar concealed' | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Sept 25: The Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah today interacted with the European Delegation led by Ambassador Joao Cravinho. Omar talked about accession, human rights and Kashmir settlement and power generation. Omar, however, does not know that what he did not tell them was discussed with them by the Bar Association team, the delegation from the Coalition of civil society and the Kashmiri Pandit Sangrash Samithi. The delegations told the Europeans that Omar had actually failed to take up the matter of revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) with New Delhi and had been feeding lies to the gullible people of the state. The delegation as also told that the Omar led government had failed to seek transfer of power projects to the state. The Europeans were surprised to know that the state government had lost vital agreements which the state had entered into NHPC for power generation. The visiting delegation knows Omar has been challenging the totality of accession frequently. However, he has been arresting civilians under Public Safety Act (PSA) when they make similar statements about accession and thus had become the biggest hurdle in a negotiated settlement of the dispute. The European delegation knows that Omar has been advocating a dialogue with the separatists. But they also know that he has been placing them under house arrest to crush dissent. The ambassadors also know the fate of the Rather Panel that was constituted to look into Justice Sageer's recommendations about autonomy. The Panel has not met for long. Omar boasted of achievements in various fields. But the delegation knows that the state has more than 500,000 unemployed youth about to cross the upper age limit prescribed by the government for seeking government jobs. |
