Div Coms, IGPs urged to take preventive measures | JCC proposed protest worries Govt | | Arun Singh Jammu, Jan 6: The Government seems worried over the proposed Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) protest. Strict instructions were issued to Divisional Commissioners and Inspectors General of Police of the both regions of the state to take all preventive measures to foil the statewide protest call given by Joint Consultative Committee, an apex body of Jammu and Kashmir Government employees scheduled on January 8. Sources told Early Times that Government today sent a communication to Divisional Commissioner Jammu Shantmannu and its counterpart Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Shailendra Kumar besides Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu zone Rajesh Kumar and IGP Kashmir Zone Muneer Ahmad Khan instructing them to take all necessary preventive measures to counter JCC protest call so that the trend of protests could not take acceleration in view of Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections this year. "In this connection, Jammu administration has already imposed section 144 in Jammu city to avert any type of protests or demonstrations and Essential Service Maintenance Act (ESMA) against Government employees for not performing their duties" they said. Government is already facing strong criticism from all fronts on its failure to live up to the expectations of the common masses which led to numerous protests against National Conference-Congress coalition Government in past five years during its regime, they informed. "As Lok Sabha and state Assembly elections have approached, Government is in no mood take any risk which may cause more damage to their vote bank and for this it has asked it machinery to foil any protest by any organization in coming months," they added. JCC has given protest call in support of their long pending demands particularly the implementation of the agreement which had reached between JCC leaders and Government. |
