Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 6: The National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD) organised a seminar today to commemorate the birth Anniversary of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, but surprisingly Omar Abdullah was not invited. Governor N N Vohra, was the chief guest and P. G. Chengappa, former Vice Chancellor of the University of Agricultural Science, Bangalore was the Guest of Honour, but all the participants and guests were shocked to see that NABARD is paying tribute to the former Chief Minister, Sher-e-Kashmir, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah for his tremendous reforms in Agricultural sector of the state and his grandson, Omar Abdullah, who is the Chief Minister of the state was not invited in the function. When asked about Omar, the official said it was not a political function. During the seminar, the officials including the governor accepted that in last 25 years, the state has not gone for any reform in the agricultural sector, and a lot of things are required to be done. It was felt in the seminar that the non-performance of the Omar's Government was also the reason for not inviting him in the function, because there was no achievement of Omar's Government in agricultural sector, which could be highlighted. One of the dignitaries in the seminar, requesting anonymity said, "It is a matter of insult for Omar, if NABARD has not approached him to attend the function, but it is matter of shame for NABARD as well if they have not find him suitable for the seminar," "If NABARD is organising a seminar to pay tributes to the great visionary, they must invite his only Grandson, Omar, who is the present Chief Minister of the state," he added. |
