Police gives clean chit to JKRDCS, closes case against NGO | Says no case of cheating can be framed | | Jehangir Rashid
SRINAGAR, Jan 6: The Jammu & Kashmir Police has given a clean chit to J&K Rural Development Coordinate Society (JKRDCS) and said that the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) is registered and has not duped anybody while promising jobs to the youth of the state. Following allegations that JKRDCS is receiving Rs. 200 from each youth while registering their name in lieu of the promise that they would be given a government job, Police Station Rajbagh launched investigations into the case. The police station lodged FIR 98/2013 under sections 120B and 420 Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) in the case and investigations were taken up. In the report finalized by Police Station, Rajbagh it has written that during the course of investigations the complainants as well as the accused were questioned. The report said that the registration of the NGO was scanned and the registration papers of the NGO were sought from the people who are running the NGO. "On November 11, 2013 we received a complaint that an NGO in the name and style of JK Rural Development Coordinate Society located at Kursu, Rajbagh has issued a notification inviting applications from youth for various government posts with the cost of each application form being Rs. 200. It was also alleged that the NGO is minting money while promising government jobs to the unemployed youth of the state," said the police report. The police report said that on receipt of the complain FIR was registered at Police Station, Rajbagh and investigations were taken up. The police report said that while the investigations were being taken a report was received by Police Station Nowabad-Jammu has also registered a case against the NGO and FIR had also been lodged there. "During the process of investigation it came to the light that the said NGO is registered with Registrar Societies, District East, Shastri Nagar, Delhi. Some of the candidates who had paid Rs. 200 towards the NGO were called for questioning and their statements were recorded. Statements of the owners of the NGO were also recorded and the investigations were taken to the logical conclusion," said the police report. The police report while referring to the statements recorded during the case that the NGO has not acted in any manner which would suggest invocation of sections 420 and 120 on them. The police report concluded by saying that the NGO has not cheated or duped any candidate and as such no case of cheating can be framed against them. Meanwhile, in a statement Munir Malik, Coordinator JKRDCS said that some groups with vested interests raised doubts about the purpose and functioning of the NGO. Munir said that thorough investigation by the police has come to conclusion that there is nothing adverse against the said society. "After investigations Police Station Rajbagh, has rejected the FIR against the society in light of its findings and have closed the case as Not Admitted. The final police report under SDPS/14/C-9/97 Dated 03-01-2014 concludes that the society is not found involved in any sort of criminal activity and nothing has been found against the said society," said Munir. |
