JAMMU, Oct 3: In yet another case of discrimination with the employees of Jammu province, the Government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has deprived the BOPEE selected Patwars of Jammu province from salary for the last over 9 months when their counterparts in Kashmir have been paid for the same period.
Owing to this discriminatory move of the State Government, severe resentment is brewing among the Patwars of Jammu province as nearing festive season, they are left high and dry by the Government. Mohammad Sadeeq, a Patwari of Poonch district said that the Patwars of Jammu province have received only Rs. 10,000 as stipend as on date after being selected through an exam conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) in the year 2012 as per the Government order number 201/REV/NG of 2012 dated 13-08-2012.
"Over 1500 selected Patwars from Jammu as well as Kashmir province were promised Rs. 3000 as stipend amount during their training period under the New Recruitment Policy and were paid only Rs. 10,000 but after the Chief Minister announced scrapping of the new recruitment policy they have not been paid even a single penny whereas Patwars in Kashmir province have been paid their salaries", he said. He further said that under the 2071 head of New Pension Scheme, under which the BOPEE selected Patwars fall, the Patwars in Flood and Irrigation Department have withdrawn their salaries but for the Patwaris deployed in Revenue department, there is no provision of funds allotted for the financial year 2014-15.
It is pertinent to mention here that different district level deputation of the Patwars are planning to share their resentment with the concerned Deputy Commissioners of 10 districts of Jammu province for an early redressal of their genuine demands.
