Pir Kho Skating Rink still under slush layer | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 3: Even as life here is back on the rails after the September 6 heavy rains and floods, the skating rink near Pir Kho, which is close to Tawi river, is still covered with slush, making it difficult for players to practice. The skating rink was also submerged by the flood waters but even after about 20 days of the things having become absolutely normal, it continues to be under the slush layer. Due to slush, the players are not in a position to start using the facility for their daily practice matches. Though they have approached the local authorities to clear the rink of the slush, till date no major headway has been made. According to reports, the entire skating rink is covered with layer of mud and until it is cleaned it is nearly impossible for any skater to start his routine practice. Budding skaters and their seniors who are enrolled with the skating association have expressed serious concern over the undue delay being caused by the higher authorities to start the cleaning process of skating rink to allow them to start their practice session and prepare well ahead of their tours and international appearances. |
