Centre takes serious view of Omar's defiance to Swachh Bharat campaign

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 3: The Centre has taken strong view of the defiance of the Omar Abdullah Government for not taking seriously the Swachh Bharat campaign started by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Oct 2.
Clear directions were issued to all the State Governments and other institutions to observe it mandatorily. But despite it the Omar Abdullah deliberately tried to ignore it.
"It's is not only defiance but a deliberate move to ignore directions of the Centre. It's a serious breach of official communication and working and it can't be taken lightly," said a senior official working in the Centre.
According to sources, the Centre could take a drastic step for ignoring for its direction.
"Omar's move have the potential to be followed by other State Government, especially the ones ruled by the opposition parties. If it happens so then the federal system will itself be questioned and this can't be accepted," said the official.
The campaign was much more needed in the State more so in the Srinagar which is littered with slush and garbage after it was hit by the floods. Not only Omar even none from his Cabinet-both NC and Congress- didn't go to street to clean them.
"Omar was missing when the floods hit the State. He didn't come to road and was flying all the time. Had, he done this act he could have shown some sensitivity but he didn't do it even that," said the official.
Omar has been consistently and regularly trying to either defy the directions of the Centre and more particularly trying to distance himself from every act of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He is doing it deliberately for assumed political gains.
"At one hand Omar is dependent on the Centre to bring the State back to the road and is making every attempt to get financial help. He is even asking Centre to give as much help as possible but at the same time defying it. Two contradictory things cant go and can't be accepted," said the official.
