Son-in-law of K separatist being appointed ASG of India? | J&K High Court Bench Kashmir | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 3: Disturbing reports are emanating from Srinagar and New Delhi and if these reports are correct, then the days are not far off when the administration of justice will be hampered in Jammu and Kashmir and the nationalists and various agencies and departments of the Government of India, including the institution of Army, will be at the receiving end. Reports pouring in from Srinagar and New Delhi suggest that the Union Law Ministry is likely to appoint Hurriyat leader and Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association president Mian Abdul Qayyum's son-in-law Javed Iqbal as Assistant Solicitor General of India in the Kashmir wing of the High Court". Mian Abdul Qayyum is known for his rabidly anti-India views and he has spent days behind bars on various charges. He is also the one who had played a highly provocative role during the 2008 Amarnath land row. Besides, he consistently hobnobs and works with the hardcore pro-Pakistan separatists and incites common Kashmiri Muslims against India by his seditious words and deeds. It appears that Qayyum and his supporters in the militant-friendly Jammu and Kashmir Government have either misled the Union Law Ministry or manipulated certain important functionaries in the said Ministry so that Javed Iqbal could be given an important assignment in the Jammu and Kashmir High Court. The reports that Javed Iqbal is being appointed as Assistant Solicitor General of India in the Kashmir wing of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court have alarmed many advocates. One of them told Early Times on condition of anonymity that "Javed Iqbal, if appointed as Assistant Solicitor General of India, Kashmir Wing of Jammu and Kashmir High Court, would subvert the judicial system to the advantage of anti-India elements and that the present dispensation in New Delhi is worse than the UPA regime". One may or may not fully endorse all this, but one cannot ignore the fact that Iqbal is son-in-law of Mian Abdul Qayyum, who has organized and attended many anti-India seminars on Jammu and Kashmir. It would be suicidal to ignore the relationship between Qayyum and Iqbal. |
