BARAMULLA, Jan 19: Ahead of January 26, massive man hunt search Operation started in Saidpora area of Sopore town in Baramullah district. The man hunt was launched when police and security agencies got inputs of presence of militants in the area. While as an IED was recovered from Watlab area of Sopore town on Monday morning. According to senior government official, "we have got inputs of presence of militant in an area, after that we have cordoned off the whole area". Official told Early Times that the government forces including Special Operation Group (SOG), Army's 22 Rashtriya Rifles and 179 Battalion of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) cordoned off Mir Mohalla area in Saidpora village on Monday morning and started house-to-house searches. "The forces had input about the presence of a group of militants in the area and following the input, the search operation was conducted," The search operation continued till 03:00 pm in the afternoon, after house to house searches it was called-off, official informed. The government forces, since last week, have stepped up anti-militancy operations in the valley particularly in Spore town of Baramulla district and its adjoining areas. Meanwhile ahead of Republic Day on Jan 26, government forces detected and diffused an Improvised Explosive Devices in Sopore town of Baramulla district on Monday. However Early Times have learnt from sources that, security forces have recovered an IED from Watlab area of Sopore town on Monday morning. After receiving a specific input, government forces found an IED on Watlab-Pazalpura road. "The troops of the Rashtriya Rifle unit along with local police, carried out search of the area and recovered a pressure cooker-based IED, weighing approximately 5 KGs, sources said. Sources said that the Improvised Explosive Device( IED) was planted under the culvert near Mundzi village of volatile area of Sopore town here. The area was immediately cordoned off and IED was destroyed by the Bomb Disposal Teams of police and Army. |
