PDA serves demolition notice to Hotel Hilltop | Illegal construction in Pahalgam | | Saahil Suhail

Pahalgam, Jan 19: Phalgam Development Authority (PDA) today served demolition notice to Hotel Hilltop being constructed few yards away from the residential quarter of Chief Executive Officer at this world famous tourist destination. Official sources told Early Times that notice was issued to influential hotelier after civil society members and environment activists accused Pahalgam Development Authority of carrying out selective demolition drive. They said that demolition notices were also served to other nineteen influential hoteliers as well. "Since people especially youth of Pahalgam are co-operating with us during demolition drive it was necessary for the CEO to issue demolition notices to these influential hoteliers who continue to violate the High Court Directive." An official whishing not to be named said. However, he claimed that no action will be taken against the influential hoteliers. "It is easy to demolish teen shed than a hotel." He added. Many of the illegally constructed huts and sheds were demolished by PDA in past few days without serving them any kind of notice, locals told Early Times. According to Forest department hotelier has encroached over 5 kanals of forest land and has constructed dozens of rooms on it despite a ban, A senior official confirmed that they served notice to hotelier and wowed to continue the demolition drive. Jammu and Kashmir High Court has put a blanket ban on any sort of constructions in Pahalgam and in its adjacent areas. |
