Visitors throng Raj Bhawan, civil Secretariat wears deserted look | | | Bashir Assad

Jammu, Jan19: Even though PDP - BJP fovernment is on the cards the Raj Bhawan Jammu receives hundreds of requests for appointment on daily basis from cross section of the people. The political and business leaders, civil society members, journalists and others seek appointment with Governor NN Vohra for highlighting problems of the cross section of people. As a popular government is yet to take office after the elections threw a hung assembly, only the distinguished people of various shades are representing the people before the Rajbhavan. Newly elected members who are yet to take oath of office too are visiting Raj Bhawan for highlighting the problems being faced by their people. Though the Raj Bhawan is trying to accommodate as many people as it can on daily basis, however the constraints are obvious. Besides listening to the people, Rajbhavan as of now vested with the executive powers takes stock of the day to day happenings, developmental programmes, law and order from the state bureaucracy on regular basis. However, the accessibility and availability of the representative government is completely missing. People who voted in such a record numbers in the recently held elections are yearning for a popular representative government. Meanwhile the civil secretariat wears a deserted look as not many people visit it nowadays. There is no hustle and bustle and visitors are very less. The administrative secretaries and the subordinate staff has little work to do but nothing to offer to the visitors. People who would flood the civil secretariat for mitigation of their problems are yearning to see a popular government in office. On the other hand matters relating to policies and procedures are the files are gathering dust in the almiras in the civil secretariat. Only files pertaining to routine matters move from one table to another. |
