Efforts on to put Govt in place before Obama's visit | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 19: Hectic deliberations have started ahead of US president Barack Obama's visit to India, to put in place a Government in Jammu and Kashmir, backed by the idea that having a BJP supported Government in the only Muslim majority state will give more credibility to the leadership of Narendra Modi. Sources divulge that having first ever BJP Government for the first time in the Muslim majority state of the country will give more credence to political stature of the Modi. "West and US are facing many problems with the Muslim fanatics. If we can have a BJP Government here, even in partnership, it will vindicate the statement of PM Modi that Indian Muslims were not anti-national or terrorists," said a senior functionary of the Government. Sources said it will even remove the stigma of the Gujarat riots as BJP Government in the State will show to the world that Muslims repose faith in Modi. "BJP now means Modi. So if we have BJP Government in the Muslim majority state it will be seen as Modi Government and it will be a huge push to the acceptability of the Modi in the world," said the functionary. PM Narendra Modi was denied VISA by the US Government on charges of his involvement in the Gujarat. But he has not only been given clean chit by the court but the public has reposed immense faith in him by making him the prime with a majority Government. The US in the past has been making interventions in Kashmir. It has used it as a ploy for its strategic interests and has even in the past sided with the Pakistan over Kashmir. It has though changed its policy off late but is still not categorically accepting that Kashmir is an integral part of India. "People have for the first time voted in such large number in the Kashmir. And with the BJP Government there, it will prove the point that Kashmir is not only integral part of the India but also that people repose faith in Indian constitution and it will be big win for India," said a senior leader. |
