Demand resettlement, special ordinance of Governor to pass Shrines Bill | Migrant Pandits Protest to complete 25 years in Exile | | Javaid Naikoo

Srinagar, Jan 19: Migrant Kashmiri Pandits while commemorating their 25 year long exile today protested in demand of their permanent resettlement in Kashmir division and special ordinance from the Governor to pass long pending Shrines/Temple Bill. On the eve of completion of their 25 years as migrants after militancy erupted in Jammu and Kashmir in early 90's, the migrants living in different states of the country today protested here in Srinagar and urged the central government to initiate a meaningful dialogue regarding their permanent resettlement in Kashmir valley and special ordinance from the Governor N.N Vohra in connection with the long pending Shrines and temple Bill. Dr Arjan Nath Pandita, Chairman Premnath Bhat Memorial Trust while talking to Early Times said that 'need of the hour is that central government must seriously resettle the migrants in Kashmir valley as per their aspirations. Kashmiri Pandits said that they appeal that central government should initiate a serious dialogue with the help leadership of the migrant Pandits community and alleged that it is the secessionist forces who were responsible for the migration of Kashmiri Pandits from the valley in early 1990. " We are here to protest in demand of our snatched rights, we would return only when our geo-political aspirations as per Margdarshan resolution are fulfilled through political and constitutional means, we are not been taken seriously and time has come that a serious dialogue is initiated by the central government," said Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President, Panun Kashmir The protesting pandits urged that regional and central governments should issue a white paper road mapping for their return to the Kashmir valley and said that Pandits living in Delhi have also decided to hold a protest march at Jantar Mantar in Delhi to highlight problems they are facing since decades. Pandits said that they today commemorate 25 years of their exile life and added that it was on this day in 1990 that a forced exodus of Kashmiri Pandits began and thousands of Pandits left Kashmir in 1990 when infamous Jagmoham Malholtra rule began. Pertinently migrant Kashmiri Pandits living in different parts of the world could be seen protesting on social networking sites these days such as Facebook and Twitter and while arguing reasons of their exile express their willingness to return to ancestral homeland, Kashmir permanently. Pandits said that land Mafia which is active in Jammu and Kashmir are posing threat to the thousands of kanals of land of Shrines and temples in different parts of the Kashmir and as the matters related to illegal encroachments of Shrines and temples was highlighted by sections of media as well many times, it is high time that Governor NN Vohra must intervene in the matter and pave way for protection of Shrines and temples as per the law of the land. |
