KATHUA, Jan 19: Kishen Chand Cricket Club (KCCC) today reached the pre-quarterfinals stages of the ongoing Twenty20 Tournament at Sports Stadium, here. In the second round match, KCCC defeated HDFC Chandigarh by a margin of 24 runs. Earlier, HDFC Chandigarh won the toss and opted to field. Batting first, KCCC made 138 runs for eight wickets with Rohit Bhat being top scorer with 54-ball 50 runs. Manik Gupta was other star striker, who added 19-ball 29 runs studded with four boundaries. From HDFC, Amit Punial (4-0-14-4) was most successful bowler while Yogesh took one wicket. In reply, HDFC Chandigarh could make 119 runs in allotted overs for nine wickets. Manul, Varinder and Yogesh were main scorers with 17, 18 and 13 runs respectively. Sameer took three wickets while Vijay bagged two from KCCC. For his half century, Rohit was named man of the match. In another first round match of the day, Gateway Srinagar XI trounced Punjab State Power Corporation (PSPC) Patiala by 23 runs. Batting first, Gateway Srinagar set a target of 124 runs for six wickets, which, in reply, PSPC could not chase and bowled out for 101runs in 19.1 overs. Manzoor named man of the match for his three wickets haul from winning Gateway Srinagar. |
