Kishtwar, Jan 20 : People's Democratic Party (PDP) today staged a protest demonstration outside the office of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar against the shortage of essentials particularly ration and kerosene in various parts of the district. The protestors was led by Firdous Ahmed Tak who unsuccessfully contested last assembly election from Kishtwar constituency highlighted various issues confronting the people and sought immediate intervention of the state administration. Addressing the gathering, Tak said that the district administration has to play a vital role in identifying and addressing the grievances of public especially when the democratic elected government was not in place. "Unfortunately the miseries of general masses were only compounding and no measures were being taken to address the basic issues", he said and warned that in case the administration failed to wake up from slumber, the party will launch a district wise agitation. Noor Hussain Malik, Ishtiyaq Hussain Waza, Wasil Doolwal, Arshad Giri and other senior leaders also address the gathering, added that most parts of the district Kishtwar including Mandal, Marwah and Dachhan were reeling under severe scarcity of ration supply ffrom last several months. Later the party also submitted memorandum to the administration, through Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohd Hanief Malik, in which the party leaders pointed out that the district is also facing adequate shortage of cooking gas, kerosene and fire wood, beside pointed out that the situation in the rural areas has reached an alarming stage due to the non-payment of wages under MGNERGA. Saif-ud-Din Sheikh, Mohammad Iqbal, Munawar Hussain Bhat, Captain (Rtd) Mohammad Ahsraf Kichloo, Rashid Lone, Ishrat Ahmed, Mudassir Ahangar, Jugal Mahajan, Ghulam Mohd Butt are also the part of deputation.
