Congress protests against NDA govt, seeks modification in Land Acquisition Bill | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Feb 27: Kathua unit of Congress party today staged protest demonstration against National Democratic Alliance, NDA, and entitled it anti- peasants' government. The protesters were seeking modification in Land Acquisition Bill and flaying NDA on rebuffing Land Acquisition Bill proposed by UPA government. The protest led by Subash Gupta, Ex MLC and veteran Congress leader sloganeering against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP government. He was accompanied by Manohar Singh, Rattan Chand, Naresh Sharma, Nirdosh Sharma, Pankaj Sharma, Advocate Ajat Shatru and many other prominent leaders. While addressing protesters, Subash Gupta criticized amendment in Land Acquisition Bill 2013 where more benefits were directly given to poor peasants. He said NDA government works against poor peasants and people in general. He said Land acquisition Bill proposed by BJP has no provision for peasants to appeal in Judiciary against forcibly grabbing their lands. Gupta said Union government must promote agriculture as 80% people dependent upon agriculture sector rather than grab their land without the concurrence and 70% majority about surrendering their land. He said peasants are already fed up to bank loans and committing suicide but BJP gives fire to their sufferings.Gupta demanded revocation of Land Acquisition Bill and threatened to hold protest at large scale in favor of peasants. He said congress will raise the voice of poor sector and will fight for their rights. Naresh Sharma, Ex Chairman Municipal Committee Kathua, alleged on BJP government to play with the emotion of peasants and demanded amendment in the bill proposed by NDA government where according to him, NDA works for corporate world and squashing poor sector. |
