Independent MLA from Jammu unlikely to get ministerial berth | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 27: Chances of inclusion of lone independent MLA from Jammu to get a Cabinet berth in BJP-PDP government that is all set to take over on March 1, are remote. According to highly placed sources an independent MLA from Jammu region who voted for BJP candidates in Rajya Sabha elections and also preferred to side with the Party instead of joining PDP or NC is unlikely to be accommodated in the Cabinet by the BJP during the swearing in ceremony on March 1. The MLA according to sources has made it clear to BJP leadership that in case Party wants his support in future he will not compromise on any thing else than a Cabinet berth. This has been turned down by one of the BJP national general secretaries who is incharge of the J&K State, sources added. Sources said when the independent MLA tried to contact the BJP national leader he was told that BJP does not need any support from him as he had already worked against the Party interests. This has hurt the MLA and his supporters who instead of siding with PDP, NC or Congress in RS elections supported BJP candidates. Sources said the people have also taken seriously the attitude of BJP towards the independent MLA who against all odds won the seat with a high margin showing his mass base and popularity. |
