SRINAGAR, Feb 27: The lull is over and finally there is something for the people of Jammu & Kashmir to cheer about. The approval of government formation in the state after Modi-Mufti meeting has elated the people, bringing an end to the drought like situation.
There is festive mood across the valley as their verdict has been finally honoured since the Mufti led government is all set to take place in the state. The verdict of the people, who clearly voted for a change, has finally been honoured.
"The news about the government formation in the state is what I was eagerly waiting for the last two months as I did not want the efforts for change to go waste this time. It will be the best government in the history of Jammu and Kashmir," said Mohammad Shafi. According to Shafi, the hate about the PDP-BJP tie up was being spread by the vested interests that could not digest their defeat in the assembly elections. Shafi said that these vested interests also know that the PDP-BJP government will be the best ever government in the history of the state.
There is a feeling in the people of the valley that when NC-Congress government couldn't even amend the AFSPA despite sharing the power at centre and in the state, then why should there be expectations that this Act would be abrogated overnight.
"People enemy to PDP-BJP tie up did everything to project this alliance as very dangerous for the state. In fact every wrong thing happened during the coalition government of the NC and Congress," said Mohammad Hayat from Budgam.
History is testimony to the fact, as Hayat said that most of the violence in the country, communal in nature, happened during the rule of people who claim them to be the champions of the secularism.
People have in their minds that Ghulam Nabi Azad who is from the state did nothing to get AFSPA revoked from the state. What he could do to save the Babri Masjid from being raised to the ground, people ask.
"Many people from the valley were killed in different parts of the country and many students were expelled from different institutions. Could the so called secular forces do anything for them," said some people at Pattan.
It is not much before when a noted Kashmiri singer was killed and then burnt in the Punjab state.
What the so called secular forces did then, these people asked.
These people went on saying that Mufti led government will serve the people of the state in the best possible way.
