After Modi-Mufti meet focus shifts on cabinet composition
PDP may ask for a 'little more' as its share

Nayeem only choice from LC

Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 27: Decks having cleared finally for government formation after Mufti-Modi meeting in New Delhi today, focus has now shifted for both the parties to selection of people who would be taken on board as ministers. As against what BJP is seeking for equal number of berths for both partners, PDP may ask for a little more as the total quota of cabinet ministers.
Sources said while things have been internally finalized by both the BJP and PDP as regards choice of people who would be the ministers in the new alliance government, stamp to the final decision would be laid tomorrow. It has been reliably learnt that even as BJP has been insisting that the ratio of ministries should be 50: 50, PDP leadership is not able to ingest that idea for some practical reasons . As PDP has three numbers more than BJP (number of seats in Assembly), it wants that share to be 'adjusted' mutually. PDP high command is not able to accommodate its people, including few of its senior leaders on that proposition of equal ratio, sources said adding that it is for the same reason Muftis may ask for a couple of more ministers to its side.
Sources also said PDP high command will take one person from the Legislative Council - Nayeem Akhtar who would be given crucial portfolio and who would be in second line after the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. Nayeem Akhtar who is most trusted leader and a close confidante of Muftis has also found this senior position in the cabinet due to absence of two stalwarts of the party- Muzaffar HussainBaig and Tariq Hamid Qarra , both of whom are now MPs of the party. Hasseb Drabu and AR Veeri are two more sure shot leaders who would get cabinet berths in PDP quota, sources further said.
As for BJP while Dr Nirmal Singh's name which is already in circulation for the post of Deputy Chief Minister is almost final, party is still in dilemma over intake of a couple of people as cabinet ministers. PC leader Sajjad Lone is likely to be choice of BJP from outside the party, sources added. The inputs with regard to 'eligibility' and capacity to deliver assessment is being by the core committee of BJP at the local level to the two key leaders Amit Shah and Ram Madhav who would take final call in selections.
Meanwhile preparations have begun for the gala function of swearing in ceremony to be held at Zorawar Singh Stadium here which among others would be attended by Prime Minister Narinder Modi on March 1.
