SRINAGAR, Feb 27: The much discussed Common Minimum Programme (CMP) would be made public on March 1, said Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president, Mahbooba Mufti today.
Talking to reporters at Delhi, Mehbooba Mufti on Friday said that the CMP would emerge on March 1, the day party patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is all set to take oath as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
"Our agenda for alliance, talks of development, economic growth and so on, besides political issues, for all these things, please wait till March 1, everything will be clear then," Mehbooba told reporters.
She said that all details related to agenda of alliance with BJP would be separately made public on the same day.
BJP leaders while giving vent on government formation with PDP termed the alliance with PDP as historic and an opportunity to respect the mandate of people across the state.
Reacting to the BJP-PDP coalition, Minister of State (MoS) in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Dr Jitendra Singh said that the joining of hands of the two parties to form the government in Jammu and Kashmir should be seen as a historic opportunity and added that any other alliance would have been the violation of the mandate given by the people.
"This is a historic occasion and a historic opportunity. This is the best decision that could have happened, given the kind of mandate that has been thrown by the state of Jammu and Kashmir," Jitendra Singh added
"He also said that the mandate was clearly in favour of PDP from Kashmir Valley and clearly in favour of BJP from Jammu region, so therefore, any other alliance would have been violation of the mandate obtained from the people of the state. Another BJP leader Ram Madhav said that both parties have reached a consensus on the Common Minimum Programme and the announcement in this regard will be made during the swearing-in ceremony in Jammu few days from now.
Pertinently as all eyes were on meeting of PDP Patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and BJP Prime Minister, Narendra Modi at Delhi today, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed met Prime Minister, Narendra Modi over the issue of government formation in Jammu and Kashmir. Modi, according to sources is also expected to attend swearing-in ceremony.
Government formation in Jammu and Kashmir took almost two months following a hung verdict of people in Assembly elections which were conducted last year and after Governor's rule was imposed in Jammu and Kashmir, both the parties started negotiations for government formation at many levels from Jammu and Kashmir to Delhi. The PDP had emerged as the single-largest party with 28 seats, followed by BJP with 25 seats, while as National Conference and Congress won 15 and 12 seats respectively.
