Anantnag, Feb 27: Three weeks on, the famous Aru valley in Pahalgam is reeling under darkness due inaction of the concerned department which has not restored transmission till date.
Aru residents told Early Times that for the past fifteen days, the area reels under darkness despite villagers' help in erecting the fallen poles after snowfall.
Accusing employees of sabotaging the restoration work they said, "From last few days employees of the department stopped work on unknown reasons due which work on restoring the Line transmission system remained incomplete." Locals said that the tall claims of administration too falls flat as the ration stores of the area stand empty. "Before harsh winter period started, Deputy commissioner Anantnag visited Aru for inaugurating a tourism department program and on the occasion assured that every facility will be provided to residents and claimed that they have activated men and machinery for facing any sort of climatic challenge but as of now all claims proved to be hoax as the area is face several problems particularly of electricity shortage." Residents told Early Times that Aru road is still single way, because the maximum portion of the road is still under heavy snow due to which vehicles playing on the road face severe problems. They also accused MLA Pahalgam Mohd Altaf of turning down their repeated pleas."Through various channels we communicated our grievances to concerned MLA but so far as the residents haven't got any kind of relief." They said while appealing him to take the issue of power supply with the concerned department.
AEE, PDD Aishmuqam, Mushtaq while admitting that the electricity transmission system in Aru Pahlgam got damaged due to snowfall, claimed that they have temporarily restored electricity to the area."I have information that we have restored Aru temporarily but if it isn't they i will send my JE to the area and assure that the area gets electricity as early as possible," he added.
