JAMMU, Feb. 27: An Inter-College symposium was organized by the Environment Unit of MIER College of Education under the Project NEAC (National Environment Awareness Campaign 2014-15) in collaboration with Ministry of Environment & Forests. The theme of the symposium was "Environment Education as an instrument to Combat Desertification and Promote Sustainable Development. "Prof. Anil K Raina, Head, Department of Environment Sciences, Udhampur Campus, University of Jammu, Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Dr. Renu Gupta, Director MIER Group of Institutions, Dr. Adit Gupta, Joint Director, MIER, Dr. Annie Kaul, H.O.D B Ed, Dr B L Raina, H.O.D M.Ed, Rohnika Sharma, H.O.D B.Ed Special Education and other faculty members of MIER College of Education also graced the occasion. Dr. Sumit Gandhi, Scientist, Biotechnology, Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM)Jammu, Dr. Harish Dutta, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Botany, University of Jammu and Dr. P.L.Kaul, OSD, MIER, Jammu were the Jury members. 8 students from various Colleges of Education across Jammu city participated in this symposium. The students presented their views on the theme. On the basis of the results given by Jury members, Yogita Bhagat from MIER College of Education clinched the 1stprize, Supriya Anand representing Handa College of Education won the 2nd prize and Neha Choudary of M.C. Khalsa College of Education secured 3rdposition. Certificates were also distributed to the participants. |
