JAMMU, Feb. 27: Ankita Tiwari of Akash House and Ashish won the women's and men's lawn tennis titles respectively in the inter-house competitions of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) held under the banner of Directorate of Sports.
In the women's final, Ankita of Akash House defeated Sidra of Jal House in straight sets. The men's singles title went to Ashish of Jal House, who trounced Aaman 2-1 in the final.
In the meantime, the mixed doubles trophy bagged by the duo of Ashish and Sidra of Jal House, who trounced the pair of Aaman and Ankita in straight sets. With this, Jal House leads the points tally with nine points while Akash House trails with six points.
Meanwhile, in women's badminton event, Akshita defeated Aparna Dhar in straight sets of 21-15 and 21-18. The men's event won by Ashish of Jal House, who beat Mohinder of Vayu House 21-15, 21-18.
In men's doubles event, the pair of Mahinder and Deepak of Vayu House defeated the duo of Ashish and Anuj of Jal House 3-1. The final score remained 15-21, 21-19 and 21-17. |
