Bail denied to rape accused | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 27: Presiding Officer YP Kotwal Fast Track Court Jammu has rejected the bail application of one Javed Iqbal Mir who was facing trial in rape case. While rejecting the bail application of the alleged accused, Presiding Officer YP Kotwal observed that as per the police report that in the year 2012, family members of the accused (applicant herein) had approached the family of the prosecutrix who is student of FMPHW and the marriage proposal was accepted by the parents of the prosecutrix and father of the accused (applicant) had made an assurance that the matter of the accused and prosecutrix will be performed after two years and one day accused forcibly raped the prosecutrix. Court further observed that rape is most heinous crime committed against a woman and it insults womanhood, violates the dignity of a woman and erodes her honour and it dwarfs her personality and reduces her confidence level and moreover keeping in view of the nature of crime allegedly committed by the accused, his release at this stage will cause deleterious effect on the minds of people as such, the crime is not against the person of woman but a crime against the entire society. With these observations Court rejected the bail application. |
