GDC Mendhar organizes extempore Speaking Competition

MENDHAR, Apr 2: Aiming to indoctrinate self confidence and inculcate a spirit of Self reliance in the students, the Departments of Arabic and Persian Govt. Degree College Mendhar organized an "Extempore Speaking competition" which was attended by the faculty members and students at large. Dr. Firdous (HoD Arabic) presented the welcome address in which he spoke about the art of speech and significance of intrapersonal communication. Principal of the College, Prof. Shabir Hussain Shah presided over the function and added grandeur to the contest. In his presidential address he stressed on the need to organize such student centric activities in the college to provide a free academic environment in which a student can express his extempore ideas at ease and enhance his verbal and communicative skills. Prof. Mohd. Akram (HoD Education) and Prof. Javied Iqbal (HoD Sociology) also attended the function and enlightened the audience with their thought provoking ideas. Prof. Shabnum, Prof. Sanjogita Kumari and Prof. Javied Iqbal acted as jury members. The prizes and certificates were also distributed among the participants. The first prize went to Majid Ali Shah (B.A Part 1st ) whereas the second and third prizes were claimed by Mohd. Safeer (B.A Part 1st) and Rahila Kousar (B.A Part 1st) simultaneously. The function concluded with the vote of thanks presented by Prof. Yasir, Head of Persian Department.
