BJP, Jammuites sour over turncoat's out-of-way projection Why only Lal Singh, why not Sukhnandan, Bhagat or Sham in BJP-PDP CC | | | ET Report JAMMU, Apr 2: While the new political dispensation prevailing in the state of Jammu and Kashmir is still in its infancy stage, yet on papers, it promises to deliver quality governance, as is its agenda of alliance speaks hinting towards good governance for the common man. Though for the process, the alliance desired for constituting a coordination committee of its alliance ministers to give more teeth to the transparent execution of the works and different plans, it however, is being alleged to have given undue share to some as its prestigious members while ignoring the others. People's Democratic Party and Bharatiya Janata Party, on March 26 formed a coordination committee to ensure that the agenda for the alliance is implemented within the defined time-frame and all the policy issues adhered to in letter and spirit of the coalition. The 10-member committee comprises of five members each from both the parties. The committee will be chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Kumar Singh. The other members of the committee include party presidents Mehbooba Mufti, Jugal Kishore, Muzaffar Hussain Beig, Tariq Hamid Karra, Thusptan Chhewang, Shamsher Singh, Choudhary Lal Singh, Abdul Rehman Veeri and Naeem Akhter. There is a consensual opinion generated from the people of Jammu, particularly for BJP to have gone overboard in appeasing the turncoats rather than exercising through their own actual representatives who have been the strong pillars of the party. The obvious finger points at the Health and Medical Education Minister Lal Singh getting the party's mandate to represent the coordination committee. "While the minister is quite vocal in announcing administrative rehash in his departments and assuring a new dispensation with accountability and transparency, it gives an obvious reason for him to be overloaded with his promises to deliver. He should not have been included in the group and instead some other person of merit and left outside the ambit of governance should have been chosen," said Arun Gupta, 35, a mechanical engineer with a computer company. Though the vision of Gupta is well accounted for his ideology towards the better performance of the coordination committee, the insiders in the BJP party are of altogether different version. "Why a turncoat be given so much credit when his loyalties have been already gauged to be that of the rolling stone. He called Congress party a bunch of corrupts when he was denied the MP ticket and threw open ghis choices for all parties in the state to take up his services. BJP did the job and then presented him bouquets and more bouquets to stardom in state politics," said a BJP senior leader wishing not to be named. He said Lal Singh preferred BJP as he had understood the mode of Modi wave and jumped into the party bandwagon. His inclusion in the party destroyed the legitimate hopes of other big contenders in the coalition ministry and now his double role as coordinate committee member has given an apparent signal that BJP is depending more on the turncoats rather than their own men. "Why not two time MLAs and ministers like Sukhnandan Choudhary, Bali Bhagat or MLA Sham Choudhary would have been given the role to respect the mandate of the people and party's insignia in the committee. Why only Lal Singh be projected as their candidate," lamented the party leader. |
