'Robin Hood' Rana invites all-round censure Pulling down Toll Plaza MLA's fancy or NC's deliberated policy?

Early Times Report
jammu, Apr 2: By threatening to pull down the toll plaza of the National Highway Authority of India in his constituency, National Conference MLA from Nagrota has tried to project himself as Robin Hood and the national agency which is engaged in the construction of the state of the art Highway between Jammu and Srinagar as an antagonist.
Devendra Rana has tried to emulate Raj Thahkre and his Maharashtra Nav Nirman Sena, which vandalized such toll plazas and attacked their employees, in its quest for electoral gains in the state, of Maharashtra. Rana perhaps overlooked that Raj Thakre's party was rejected by the people of the state to triviality for similar goondaism. Whether the threat of the NC MLA to attack the toll plaza is his personal attempt to mislead the law abiding people of the state and project himself as their messiah or a deliberated policy of the National Cenference is not known, but the MLA has invited large scale criticism and censure for the threat he issued in the State Legislative Assembly the previous day, both inside and outside the House.
"We will do what you did and I challenge from the floor of this house that whatever it takes I will get this toll plaza removed from that area even if we have to come on roads," Rana had said.
Seeking to expunge Rana's statement from proceedings of the House, Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) Zulfiqar Ali said, "If a lawmaker talks about breaking of law and if he breaks it, then the law will take its own course."
"This is an attempt on part of the MLA to instigate the people of his constituency to openly defy the law that empowers National Highway Authority of India to set up toll plazas to charge toll at an agreed rate and by making such an irresponsible statement, he has attempted to mislead the people of his constituency and instigate them for creating lawlessness" said a prominent citizen who was present in the visitors' gallery of the LA. "This kind of statement from an elected representative is not only irresponsible, but also dangerous, as it can prompt people to defy toll plazas of the state, which are mainstay of its economy" he added.
