Tangmarg encounter: Ultras escape after killing Army Jawan, Police cop

BARAMULLA, Apr 2: After killing an Army soldier and one police personnel in Hardshoora village of Kunzar area in Baramulla district of North Kashmir on Thursday, the militants broke the cordon and escaped from the spot. While as joint team of Army and Police are looking for the militants and are carrying out a cordon and search operation of the area.
A senior police official told Early Times that, "on specific information about the presence of two militants in Hardshoura Sultanpora in Tangmarag area, the joint team of Army, police and SOG Pattan launched a combing operation against the militants and cordoned off the entire area.
The gun fight started early morning of Thursday between the militants and a joint team of army's 29, 52 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and J&K police's Special Operation Group (SOG) at Hardshoora-Sultanpora in Kunzar, official informed.
Official said that, in the gunfight, an Army soldier and a policeman of Jammu and Kashmir's Police counter insurgency wing were injured in the gunfight. One civilian was also injured in the gunfight. The two security personnel were shifted to Army's 92 base hospital for treatment.
"The joint team intensified attack on militants, however the injured were shifted to army's 92 base hospital were the injured including the soldier Ganayier Jagashwer of Madhya Pradesh, of 29 RR and the SOG man Mohammad Shafi succumbed to injuries.
The injured civilian was identified as Manzoor Ahmad Rather who has been shifted to Srinagar hospital for treatment, official added.
Official said that the joint team of police and army has rushed reinforcements and surrounded adjacent villages in a bid to track the militants who are holed up in a residential house in the area.
The search operation was going on in and around the area. Tracking dogs are also on the job to track the hidden militants, till the last reports came in.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mir Suhail Munawar told Early Times that, "the militants escaped from the site of gun battle and encounter was closed at 4:00 pm.
Mohammad Shafi under belt no 142/ SPO of Chanibal Miragund in Pattan area succumbed to injuries, Said Mir Suhail.
SSP said that, the gun battle was over at 4:00 pm and we are conducting a search operation, and militants escaped from the site of encounter.
