From export of water terrorism to conspiracy
4/2/2015 11:38:27 PM
When the separatists described the
current floods as a conspiracy
hatched by the Government against the people of Kashmir they were simply echoing.Allegations of JuD supremo, Hafiz Saeed who in September last had alleged that floods in the Kashmir valley which later inundated parts of Pakistan and occupied Kashmir were part of India's plan on exporting water terrorism to Pakistan. And that should have been the reason for the Kashmiri separatists to toe the line of Saeed by treating the current floods in the valley as a conspiracy hatched by the Government against the people of Kashmir. Since Monday many separatists have issued statements launching a scathing attack on the state government and the administration.
These people are terming natural calamity as a conspiracy hatched against Kashmiris. Since these separatists are a learned lot they should have realized that their statement accusing the state Government of hatching a conspiracy against people by allowing parts of the valley to get flooded. Can a government be blamed for the floods? And how can they term it as a conspiracy? Natural calamity can hit any part of the world and no one can be held responsible for it.
Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq issued a statement on Monday claiming that Mirwaiz Umar chaired an emergency meeting of Dar-ul-Khair, and Mirwaiz took the stock of the situation arising out of floods. He (Mirwaiz) appealed his activists, NGOs and others not to wait for the government help and be ready to meet any eventuality. It is a good gesture on the part of Molvi Umar Farooq otherwise he too would have been blamed, like other separatists,,for being on the sidelines simply watching the the ebb and flow of the water level of river Jehlum.Instead of asking the NGO's and other social activists to pool their resources by way of making available man power and money for rescue and relief operations the Kashmir Mirwaiz should galvanise his supporters who could lead rescue and relief operations. Simply spending time on watching the water level of inundated Jehlum does help a watcher in getting strange ideas and this is what these separatists have got .And blaming the Government for hatching a conspiracy against people of Kashmir by causing floods in rivers and lakes is part of those strange ideas.
In September last voices in Pakistan and In Kashmir valley had blamed Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, for having brought floods from Nepal to Kashmir without bothering to understand whether floods in Nepal can inundate river Jehlum or Chenab. If there are floods in Nepal it can inundate river Brahmaputra that flows from the Himalayas to enter into the Bay of Bengal after merging with the Ganges.
This way agencies across the border and separatists in Kashmir, who invariably try to be in the news and plan to register their presence and relevance to the core issue of Kashmir, find it easy to hold the state Government and,if need be,the Government of India for exporting water terrorism to Pakistan or for hatching a conspiracy against the people of Kashmir.Well the state Government led by Mufti Sayeed should feel elated with the charges that his Government had hatched a conspiracy against Kashmiris by causing floods in the rivers and lakes. This means that Mufti has the powers to be in full control of nature and whenever he wants he can give birth to flood fury or to incessant rain and cloudburst or snow.If the Mufti has the powers to cause rain and floods will he do so to attract criticism and severe financial stress on his Government ? He will not do so even if he has the powers to cause rain and floods.Hence instead of lending a helping hand to the people in distress these separatists were trying to fuel mischief and suspicion as they believe that once people started protesting against the Government that could provide added political weight to the separatists. Let people pray to God to stop rains instead of wasting their time on accepting separatists' ludicrous pleas.
