Auto Union stages protest against MC, Contractors over forced entry fee | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Apr 3 : Auto Union Kathua today staged massive protest demonstration against Municipal Committee and contractors who are forcibly demanding more than fixed Entry fee Led by S Sardool Singh, President of the Union alongwith Nirdosh Sharma, Distt Secretary Congress Party, the protesters blocked GDC Kathua road and sought strict action against contractors who allegedly manhandling with two auto drivers. The protestors said the contractors already received Rs 2 extra than fixed rate for entry fees in Kathua but the protest triggered out today when contractors with the support of Municipal Committee Kathua today started demanding 50 percent extra charges from the drivers. The situation took ugly turn when heated arguments became a brawl and contractors allegedly beat two drivers namely Rajat Gupta and Kamal Kumar. Sardool Singh, while addressing to protesters, said, "Entry fee which is meant for Truck, auto and Tractors is just Rs 8 as per contract agreement given to the contractors but they are made to pay more forcibly. "The Entry Fee receipt no. 921 dated Apr 3, 2015 disclosed the menace where Rs 8 has been printed but the contractors have charged Rs 15/- giving a impression of unholy nexus of contractors and Municipal Committee Kathua. When contacted Executive Officer Municipal Committee Kathua refused to comment on the matter. |
