Following clashes, students allege discrimination in BGBSU
Authorities refute allegations

Rajouri, Apr 3:Administration of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) has categorically denied the allegation of discrimination leveled by some valley based students after two students of B Tech 6th semester were arrested by the Rajouri police involved in stabbing a student from Poonch district in the university campus.
On 1st April some students of 6th semester of B.Tech course intercepted one Nikash Aslam s/o Mohd Aslam resident of Surankot, all staying in University hostel ,at about 8 pm over some dispute and thrashed him severally by using a sharp edged weapon and left the place after injuring him seriously. Nikash was immediately shifted to University's hospital from where after preliminary treatment was shifted to district hospital.
Nikash was later referred to GMC hospital at Jammu for specialized treatment. On the complaint of the parents of NIkash Rajouri police booked about 6-8 students including Junaid Ahmed, Said Andrabi, Faheem Imtiaz and Danish in a case FIR No 157/15 under sections 147 /323 RPC and 4/25 Armas Act.
During investigation on Thursday late evening police picked up Junaid and Faheem from the university while others went underground.
After the arrest of their colleagues and annoyed over the attitude of Unversity administration other students from B Tech course in the morning today closed the main gate of the university and didn't allow any vehicle including that of faculty members to enter/come out of the university campus. They raised slogans against the university administration and demanded immediate release of their colleagues.
Later after the intervention by Mohd Rashid Chjowdhry, Registrar student lifted their protest for few hours so that the administration can take up the matter with the district administration.
Meanwhile BGSBU administration has constituted a high level inquiry committee headed by Prof Mohd Asghar, Chief Proctor to investigate the incident and has been asked to file the report soon.
While condemning strongly the incident of assault university administration said , " University will not tolerate any type of indiscipline in the Campus including clash between students of B-Tech, 6th Semester'. University administration has also refuted the allegations of discrimination leveled by some accused students and said, "University always treat its students equally. No student is being discriminated. Those projecting the issue on social network as an ethnic are befooling the people as well as themselves. Stern action will be taken against the violators of rules and regulations following the inquiry committee report". University administration reportedly has denied its involvement in lodging FIR against the students and said, " The police was approached by the parents of the victim student and law will take its own course in this matter.BGSB University is known for social and cultural diversity as students from all regions are living together in a peaceful and congenial academic atmosphere and mischief mongers are trying to disturb this peaceful environment". The University appealed to all stake holders not to pay any heed to mischievous messages on social networking sites or media.
Pertinently B Tech students again locked the University gate in the evening and were still sitting and raising slogans against the University Administration for not helping the aggrieved students.
"District administration has been monitoring the situation closely .Deepati Uppal, deputy commissioner has instructed the University Administration to sort out the issue amicably. If required by the University administration additional police force will be sent to help the University based police force" said Dr Haseeb Mughal. SSP.
Meanwhile Mir Aijaz Ahmed ,president BGSBU Teacher's Association has categorically denied the student's allegation of discrimination in the University campus by the administration as well as faculty members. " They are raising the issue just to gain people's sympathy . University is known for social and cultural diversity as students from all the region living in together in a peaceful and congenial academic atmosphere" said Mir Aijaz.
