Authorities shift 21 families after shooting stones hit houses in Khiram | | | Early Times Report ANANATNAG, Apr 3: Panic gripped Kasnagad-Khiram of Bijbehara area today after shooting stones rolled down from the hill lock and hit some houses, following which 21 families were evacuated by the district administration. Local residents said that the stones hit at least two 10 houses in the locality yesterday evening creating panic situation. They said maximum number of shooting stones hit trees surrounding the residential area. Fearing any trouble authorities have evacuated 21 families and shifted them to a nearby primary school. Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Bashir Ahmad Khan who visited the area this evening assured people possible help from the administrative side. He directed officials of CAPD to ensure availability of rice, sugar and other eatables at the relief camp. Additional deputy commissioner Anantnag, Naib Tehsildar Khiram, SHO Srigufwara and other officials accompanied the Deputy Commissioner. Meanwhile, senior National Conference leader and MLC Bashir Ahmad Veeri visited the area and expressed sympathy with the affected families. He asked district administration to provide every kind of support and relief to affected families. He also urged state government to chalk out rehabilitation policy for tribals living on high altitudes and in far off areas. |
