Kathua, Apr 3: Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association (JKBWA) appreciated the Social Welfare and Forest Minister Bali Bhagat for safeguarding the interest of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes on Friday. According to press release, a meeting held at Chack Kahna in Kathua, which was chaired by Capt. Darbari Lal Sargotra and attended by a majority of the Batwal Community members. Association constituted a Social Welfare Committee with Sarpanch Karan Lakhotra, Bua Ditta Sargotra, Sat Pal Motan, Kartar Chand Sargotra, Sansar Chand Sargotra, Mohan Lal Motan and Devi Ditta Sargotra. While, discussing the burning issues of the Batwal Community, the Association members stated that since independence the Union as well as the State Governments has taken care of all the communities in the State but the poorest Batwal community has remained ignored and is lagging behind in all respects. Association said that the Batwal Community has not so far been given representation in any forum of the Government. Claiming that the Batwal community has no effective say in the state due to non-representation to them, the Association members said that there was no action on various demands of the Batwal community, highlighted through a series of memorandums submitted to the previous State Government. Association appealed the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to kindly pay attention towards the matter. |
