Revenue Department mum over encroachment of forest land
'Record is illegible and smudged': Tehsildar Triath

Rajouri, Apr 5: Revenue department of District Rajouri, Tehsil-Triath has earned loss of credibility and trust of the people recently as the department has closed its eyes to the land grabbers, brazenly grabbing the forest land.
Sources told Early Times that some land grabbers with political background are fearlessly Usurping forest land under the nose of revenue department in village -Triath. Sources again said that the grazing fields of the forest department which exist for more than 100 years at village Triath having a population of 20,000 people has been grabbed by some land grabbers now a days with a willful representation of the officials of revenue department. Sources further said that this open land of forest department is being taken up with the consent of the officials.
A local namely Mohd. Bashir told Early Times that a piece of open land is being used by poor villagers of Triath for grazing from past more than hundred years as it is declared as grazing field by the forest department. He said that the some land grabbers having political backgrounds are now a days in possession of the same land with consent of the revenue department. He said that many deputations of the locals have approached the Tehsildar office as well as District Administration in this regard, but the authorities are mum over the issue indicating their assent with the grabbers. He further said that the locals are facing problems owing to the extinction of the cattle grazing fields. Tehsildar Revenue Department, Triath when contacted by the Early Times admitted that the issue of the people is genuine adding, "the Records available with the Revenue department Triath are illegible and smudged and it is impossible to read the records as the same are not clear". He further said, " our records are not maintained till date and we too are facing the problems while taking any decision to solve the matter."
Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Dipti Uppal when contacted said, " I will take cognizance only after receiving a written application in this regard".
