He said that District administration also air dropped food items, water bottles, tents, medicines and blankets at the Dewal Kund village through the helicopter of Indian force, as an immediate relief to the effected people and those who were dislocated to safer places from the areas vulnerable to the slides. DC also directed all the SDMs, XEns, Tehsildars and other Officers to further strengthen their resources so that the disruption of essential services and road connectivity could be minimized besides they were directed to take immediate measures to evacuate the people living in vulnerable areas to the safer places.
Earlier a weather Advisory has also been issued by the District Administration in view of the deteriorating weather conditions and triggering of landslides in the District, in which the people living in slide prone areas, flood prone areas, the areas vulnerable to avalanche and people living on embankments of rivers and streams were asked to shift to the safer places to avert any untoward incidents.
Meanwhile 20 families in Kuriya area of Kishtwar District were shifted to safer places after frequent triggering of shooting stones and land sinking threatened the area. The administration also deputed the team of experts to access the area and have drawn a plan to carry out the blasting of the rocks if required. The newly constructed school building at Drabshala was also damaged due to heavy rainfall. The sources informed the "Early Times" that a local police team also visited the school building to ascertain the cause of the collapse of school building. "We have sent a team to access the nature and cause of the damage to newly constructed school building in Drabshala--- if the building collapsed on its own and we find a foul play-we will register an FIR against the contractor" said a senior police officer.
