JAMMU, Apr 5: BJP national general secretary and former RSS spokesperson, Ram Madhav, who on behalf of the BJP worked out and sealed the power-sharing deal with the PDP, on Saturday, at the BJP national executive meeting in Bengaluru, made a presentation on Jammu and Kashmir, which reportedly sought to "allay concerns in the party over alliance with PDP in Jammu and Kashmir". That he had to explain the deal and the Agenda of Alliance at the national executive meeting does suggest that all in the BJP were not really impressed with what Ram Madhav did in Jammu and Kashmir for getting for the BJP some loaves and fishes of office. Indeed, there is nothing in the Agenda of Alliance that inspires the patriotic sections of society in the state, including Jammu region and Ladakh, the displaced Kashmiri Hindus, refugees from West Pakistan and displaced persons from Pakistan-occupied-Jammu and Kashmir. In fact, the Agenda of Alliance has disappointed and alarmed the country as a whole, as there is everything in the Agenda of Alliance that helps the separatists in Kashmir and Islamabad promote their anti-India agenda in the Kashmir Valley. It may appear unbelievable, but it is a fact that a deep sense of insecurity has gripped the minorities in the state in general and people of Jammu region in particular, with a vast majority among them thinking in terms of migrating to other parts of the country. They have not only described the Agenda of Alliance as a new charter of bondage, but also rejected it saying that "Ram Madhav & Co has bartered the national interests by striking a deal that would cause an irreparable damage to the country in Jammu and Kashmir". Ram Madhav reportedly "defended" the Agenda of Alliance and informed the members of the national executive, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP national president Amit Shah and all others present, that it was because of the BJP that certain Kashmiri leaders "have started speaking progressive language" and that the "days are not far when the BJP would perform well in the Kashmir Valley". He also reportedly said that the "alliance of the BJP with the Peoples Conference (of separatist-turned-politician Sajad Lone) was the party's biggest achievement". Ram Madhav is, it appears, living in a fool's paradise. He doesn't know anything about Jammu and Kashmir and the ideology that dominates and guides the Kashmiri politics. The BJP would never be acceptable to the people of Kashmir. He should not forget that the BJP had not released its election manifesto and dropped Article 370 from its age-old agenda hoping that the party might win a couple of seats from the Valley, but with no result. All the BJP candidates, barring one, lost their security deposit. The BJP could get only 45,000-odd votes in Kashmir. Ram Madhav is only indulging in day-dreaming and misleading the party's top brass. Perhaps, he has some hidden agenda, which will get exposed sooner than later. |
