Army lives up to its humane traditions
Transports bodies of slain labourers

Rajouri, Apr 5: Living up to its human traditions, the army has provided all the necessary means of transportation for carrying the mortal remains f three Uttar Pardesh based labourers who were killed in a mine blast in forward area in Noushera tehsil in Rajouri district on Sunday.
At about 7 am on Sunday four labourers from Akhori village in Raibareily district in Uttar Pardesh and working with a brick kiln at Jhangaer in Nowsehra tehsil had gone to ease themselves in the nearby forest.
Unaware of the fact the area was mined by the army to keep anti-national elements away, a labourer picked up an abandoned vintage mine and started fiddling with it causing a big blast killing three on the spot while fourth had a miraculous escape. He was admitted at district hospital Nowshera with splinter injuries.
Hearing the sound of the blast army soldiers from nearby barracks rushed to the spot and cordoned the whole area.
The killed have been identified as 42 year- old Ramni s/o Varinder Parshad. Thirty-year-old Moni s/o Darshan Lal and 26- year0 old Vijay Kumar s/o Ramesh Chand and the injured was identified as 16 year-old Amit Kumar all resdent of village Akhori in Uttar Pradesh.
Inhabitants of the area resented the killings of three innocent persons and said that despite several claims by the army about the clearance of mines such incidents have taken place in the area in the past also.
Meanwhile, after people's protest, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri initiated an inquiry into the incident and has directed Hitesh Gupta, SDM and Shargun Shukla, SDPO to submit the report at their earliest.
" In a humanitarian gesture, true to its traditions Army provided all out assistance to the poor aggrieved families of the unfortunate victims of the Nowshera mine blast and made all necessary arrangements for honorable transportation of the mortal remains to their native village" said Manish Mehata , PRO , MoD. He added that the mortal remains of all the three were taken by the relatives to their village.
