J&K Transport Department to install GPS on vehicles | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 5: The Jammu and Kashmir Government is planning to install Global Positing System (GPS) on all the vehicles of the Transport Department to keep track of their movement and help check accidents. "The government is chalking out a comprehensive plan for installation of GPS in transport vehicles to keep track of their movement and help in checking accidents apart from helping in better traffic management," Minister of State for Transport, Abdul Ghani Kohli who paid a surprise visit to Toll Plaza Lakhanpur said today. Kohli also stressed on better synergy between excise and motor vehicles department for ensuring strict vigil to check the menace of overloading. He directed for monitoring of private weighbridges so that the proper check is maintained. Kohli reviewed the functioning of Transport department and gave on spot directions to the officers for streamlining the functioning of the department and making it more accountable. He directed them to maintain proper check and plug-in entrance of vehicles in the state through any alternate route skipping Lakhanpur and warned that any laxity in this regard would be dealt with sternly. |
