MENDHAR, Apr 13: As private schools in Poonch district are alleged to be forcing students to buy books and uniform from them, parents said they won't sit silent and would raise their voice against this business culture in educational institutions. In private sector, there are 64 middle schools, 17 high schools and seven higher secondary schools in Poonch district. These schools are situated in Mendhar, Surankote, Poonch and Mandi areas, according to official sources. Sources said the managements of these schools were openly selling books and uniform to students against their wish. Some parents said the schools were selling these articles to them on higher rates as these were available in the market on lower rates. Chief Education Officer (CEO), Poonch, Lal Hussain said no private school could do so as it was against the norms. A team of education department would soon take a round of these schools to verify the allegations, he added. Meanwhile, the parents have appealed to education minister Naem Akhtar to intervene in the matter and save the exploitation of students and their parents at the hands of school . |
