Mendhar has no registered tuition center, teachers violating norms

Mendhar, Apr 14: Students in Mendhar of Poonch continued to be at loser's end as some black moles from within teaching fraternity are fleecing them in the name of tuitions despite the fact none of the tuition centers in Mendhar is registered with the nodal/concerned education department. Official sources said that tuition centers in Poonch district witnessed mushroom growth in the past couple of years and all of them are functioning illegally. "These tuition centers face immense criticism due to illegal profiteering, lack of discipline, weak infrastructure and odd timings, they said. "The violation of rules could be judged from the example of one Bright Career Coaching Center situated at the heart of Mendhar town run by four influential government teachers / lecturers, sources said adding that it tops the list of 50 tuition centers which are running illegally as none among them is registered with State's education department neither they comply with the conditions laid down in J&K Regulation of Private Tuition Rules of 2010. Sources and the parents of students as well alleged that these tuition centers have resorted to illegal profiteering since from years now under the patronage of administration but also lacks discipline.
"No girl student is safe at these tuition centers as these have become the hot spots open to eve teasers," they alleged. Tuition centers also lack infrastructure and forces students to accept the odd timings at times keeping in view the urgency as shown by the students. "In a single classroom which has intake capacity of 40 students they forcefully accommodate higher number of students who also are forced to attend classes from 7:00 am," said Chairman Youth Club Mendhar Advocate Nadeem Khan While admitting the fact that none of the tuition centers running in Poonch is registered with the department, Chief Education Officer (CEO) Poonch, Lal Hussian said, "Yes, no one is registered center as they are not fulfilling the conditions laid down in J&K Regulation of Private Tuition Rules of 2010." He said, "I have directed all the tuition centers to get their centers registered with State's education department and comply with the conditions laid down in J&K Regulation of Private Tuition Rules of 2010 for running coaching classes within one week or face appropriate legal action. "Those government teachers and lectures violating the norms by running these centers will be dealt according to law." CEO assured.
Pertinently, the High Court had also ordered the closure of all unregistered coaching centers in the valley and constituted a panel headed by Division Commissioner.
