Curtailing security of JKPCC leaders irks Mir | It is an act of vengeance' | | Saahil Suhail Early Times Report anantnag, Apr 13: Disappointed with Government's decision of curtailing security cover of congress leaders, Former Tourism Minister and Jammu Kashmir Pardesh Congress Chief, Ghulam Ahmad Mir Sunday said that the BJP-PDP coordination committee has no right to access security of Congress leaders. "Government has decided to curtail security of our JKPCC office bearers, ex ministers, senior leaders, contesting candidates and even district presidents which is quite unfair. He said the situation was not favorable yet and by curtailing security, the government ahs endangered the lives of the JKPCC members. "Normally the decision regarding security is taken after the Home ministry assesses the situation. 'Nothing of threat has been done," he said adding it was an act of vengeance. He accused BJP-PDP coordination committee of single outing Congress party and curtailing security cover of its leaders. "First they have no right to assess the security cover of a political leader second they have curtailed the security of congress leaders who have survived several attacks which is unacceptable. We will wait for few days after which the party will react strongly," he added. He also accused BJP-PDP government of rehabilitating flood victims on party lines. "We have some reports the district administration is rehabilitating only those who have political affiliation with either PDP or BJP. This kind of indiscrimination is also unacceptable and if administration continued congress party will come on roads along with the flood victims," he said. On being asked why congress is opposing the composite townships for Kashmiri Pandits despite the fact that NC-Congress government identified the land for the same, Mir said, "Land was never identified in our government but yes had conveyed the center to enhance the package for honorable return of migrant pundits. Initially before five years we gave 5 lac and employment to a family but before six months proposed to enhance the cash relief upto 20 lac for the families wishing to return" adding it was easy to them for buying the land from the same amount who has sold their properties. Mir said that he has started a process of filling the vacant posts in the party structure. "My wish is to redress the grievances of public which we can only by strengthening the party roots," He said. Senior party leaders including Vice president Mohmmad Anwar, Former minister Peerzada Mohmmad Sayeed, MLA Shangus Gulzar Ahmad Wani, MLA Devsar Mohd Amin Bhat, General sectary Hilal Ahmad Shah and others also addressed the gathering. |
