HC stays counseling of MD/MS/PG Diploma Courses | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 13: After restraining BOPEE from finalizing the selection of MD/MS/PG Courses in Medical Colleges by the High Court day before yesterday, Justice Bansi Lal Bhat today stayed the counseling of MD/MS/PG Diploma Courses in Medical Colleges under the reserved category called Rural Service Category. Justice Bansi Lal Bhat while staying the counseling, observed that Advocate Abhinav Sharma appearing for the petitioner submitted that petitioners were serving as Medical Officers in Health and Medical Education Department of the state and they are aggrieved if the exclusion by virtue notification No BOPEE/Exam-01/2015 dated April 5, 2015 despite having qualified the entrance test under Rural Service Reserved Category for which 10% of total seats were reserved in open Merit other than General Category. Court also observed the petitioners had applied under reserved category called Rural Service Category and secured more than 40% marks entitling them to be called for counseling, However respondents appear to have selected only 7 candidates from this category and petitioners have qualified in this category have not been called for counseling while 25 seats still are available. Upon this State High Court issued notices to State and ors and in the meanwhile stayed the counseling. |
