Jammu, Apr 13 : Mountaineering Association of Jammu and Kashmir, in collaboration with Sprawling Buds School, Lakshmi Puram, shall be holding 15th Jammu District Sport Climbing Championship at the school premises in Chinore, here from April 20. In this two-day event, around 200 climbers from various institutions of the district shall compete for the top honours. "In case the participation exceeds 200 climbers, preliminary rounds of certain categories for local climbers of Jammu City shall be conducted a day earlier," informed organising secretary of the competition, Shawetica Khajuria. The competitions, to be conducted on the pre fabricated 40ft high Tenzing Norgay Sport Climbing Wall in Sprawling Buds school premises, shall be held in eight categories of men, women (born in 1998 and earlier), boys, girls (born in 1999, 2000 and 2001), sub junior boys and girls (born in 2002 & 2003) as also mini boys and girls (born in 2004 and after). Whereas men, women, boys and girls shall compete both in 'lead climbing' and 'speed climbing', the sub-junior and mini boys and girls shall participate in 'lead climbing' only. On the spot registration shall also be done at Sprawling Buds School from 7.30am to 8 am on April 20. National and zonal winners as well as reigning state and district Jammu champions in all the categories are, however, exempted from registration fee. Whereas a qualified national judge in sport climbing and organising secretary, Shawetica Khajuria shall also be the president of the jury, Anil Kumar shall be the chief route setter. Both shall be supported by other qualified technical officials of the Association including Sonam Sidharth, Shashi Kant and Aman arora.
